A Tribute to Frankie Knuckles (Mix by Dimitri from Paris)

Yesterday the world lost who in my humble opinion, was one of the most inspirational and iconic figures in history.  Frankie Knuckles is labeled by many, and the dj culture as a whole, as the originator and inventor of House music.  Without House music, I have no idea where I would be in life right now, and who knows where the world of music would be.  Frankie died at the relatively young age of 59, but has no doubt left behind a legacy of happiness, acceptance, joy, and individuality.  So truly honored to have seen him perform his art, and truly sad to see him go.

In honor, the French funk dj Dimitri from Paris has put together a tribute mix to the inventor of Jack, and it's about as perfect as can be...

YOU'RE WELCOME ft. JOYCE MUNIZ + BELLS & WHISTLES + BENJAMIN K + MANTRANOVA

Very very happy to have the one and only Joyce Muniz in town TONIGHT for the next installment of the 'You're Welcome' monthlys, at Harlot here in the lovely San Francisco.  Shit's just been getting better and better since the change in to 2014, and believe me, I'm not looking to slow down anytime soon.  I mean it's officially Spring time kids, it's time for longer days, longer nights, shorter skirts, and louder music.  In other words, it's the best time of the year.

Joyce is traveling alllll the way from Brazil, on her way to WMC in Miami with her Exploited labelmates Claptone, Adana Twins, Shir Khan and more to join us here in SF, for what is sure to be another amazing night.  She's been on something of a streak as of late putting out an exclusive mix for DJ Mag, dropping one of the bigger tunes of the year 'Back In The Days', and playing some of the biggest clubs in the world, so as you can imagine, it's more than a dream to have her here to provide the soundtrack.  If you've heard of her, then you know, and if you haven't, you're in for one hell of a treat.

To open the night is one of my favorite younger names in the scene, none other than local boys Bells & Whistles.  These dudes have been Killing it, throwing huge parties under their Four Sweaters moniker, providing residency duties to As You Like It, and playing just about every major party that means a shit in the city.  These two are going straight to the top, just you wait.

I'll be there to open the place up from 10-11, with You're Welcome's newest resident Mantranova 9-11.

Oh, and just in case you forgot, this is a FREE party.  That means you, your coworkers, your friends, your loved one, loved ones, your booty call, your future ex-wife.....all of 'em, are in for free.

Looking FORWARD to this one, and really lookin forward to seeing all those smiles, sexy asses, and bass faces on that dance floor....... :)

Benjamin K ~ The Block Show 2 Hour Mix

Video streaming by Ustream

Last Wednesday I was asked on to Temple Radio's 'The Block Show.'  If I knew they were gonna videotape the whole thing I would have cleaned up for you all.  Buuuutttt, check it out for loads of music I'm feeling at the moment.  Most of it I wouldn't play in the club, but perfect for the headphones, the bedroom, the bath, the pool.  Summer's so damn close I can taste it....

Discobelle Mix 032: Bixel Boys [FOOD FOR THOTS]

BK Value Meal regulars Bixel Boys just handed this over to Discobelle as part of their monthly podcast series.  This thing starts off Big with Jimmy Edgars 'Whip' remix, weaving in and out of some of the largest house music I've heard in a minute.  About thirty minutes in, things slow down and ample bits of sex are thrown in.  Turns out they set out to make a full on, head splitting house mix, then after sxsw ended they decided a little turn-down was necessary.  This thing is outta hand.  Listen below and be sure to follow these dudes, as they're tossing out remixes, videos, and freebies on the regular.
